happy friday!

i have to rid my sidekick of some pics cuz it's starting to take too long to open up my album from my memory card. but before i do that, i figured i'd take some pics of me at work (very minimalist makeup with dorky glasses) and make a statement about how i now wear a fanny pack: its awesome. leaves your hands free to do other stuff. and it's not like i'm wearing it the SUUUUPER dorky way, just mildly dorky. i think it's so cool!

this is my desk at work, i drink tea. i drink a lot of tea:

this is me today:

i tried cooking steel-cut oats for breakfast this morning, and i was supposed to cook it for 30 minutes, but then i started watching TV and i showered, and i totally forgot it on the stove. so when i went to check on it after my shower, and it was all dried up. i ate what was still edible, and miya proceeded to eat the crusty bottom of the pot:

i usually bring lunch to work. so i have a lot of containers. i've recently taken up a liking for eating natto on toasted bread. i prefer it as a sandwich, because then there's enough carbs to offset the fermented-ness of it:

here's a pic from the hong kong trip, on my flight back to US, while we're getting off, i realized how swollen my ankles were. i think it's the flying thing, and the fact that in hong kong, we walked around a lot. here's a pic of the ankle then, and 2 days later when it got kinda normal again:

here are just some shots of the rehearsal day when ashley came in to take vid of the band. i forgot when this is, but it's not THAT long ago:

i do wanna take more pics, but...

i was an idiot and i gave away my isight to a friend who hooked me up with awesome discount for the macbook pro i'm using now. i did that because i thought the built-in camera would suffice, and now i sorely miss my isight. i mean, it works fine, but i miss being able to adjust the angle of the camera so that it's more flattering. i mean, out of all the stuff i buy, u'd think i'd cough up some dough to buy another camera (the one i've been wanting is the Logitech Quickcam Pro 4000, watching one on eBay now) but i guess i've made do with the one that's built in.

so at work, i'm trying to figure out how to dynamically load content from external HTML pages via AJAX and plop them on top of a transparent layer over a SWF file. omg, so many hacks and junk to get this working, i swear. as soon as i'm done with this, i promise myself i'll start learning me some script.aculo.us. i'd learn AS3, but then we don't have Flash 9 here at work yet, and i wanna learn Tweener for AS3, so i'm waiting on Flash 9...

things i like

sushi. seriously, like 1/6 of my net salary goes to sushi meals. (in case you're wondering, 1/4 goes to rent, 1/6 to makeup/beauty, 1/6 to clothes, 1/8 to gas, and 1/8 to other foods and alcohol, give or take some here and there) anyway... last nite, justin and i went to sushi zo.. OMG it was absolutely exquisite. we had omakase for two, and 3 different glasses of sake (unsure on the price of the last sake, cuz we wanted one that was $14 a glass, but they ran out, so they just showed us two bottles of stuff and i picked one). the tab came out to $202 for two people (pre-tip). TOTALLY worth it though! perfect amount of room temp rice and the perfect amount of wasabi (when applicable) underneath each piece of melt-in-your-mouth fish. the great thing about this omakase is that it's just one piece of fish per item/person, so you really get to try a lot of different things. i didn't know spanish mackeral could be so good! and this was the first time i had warm, freshly steamed ankimo. wowowowowowow! yeah i'm definatly going back. however, i keep reading other people's reviews of sushi zo and everyone's bill came out to less than ours... i guess we did spend like $50 on sake. and we did leave pretty full. and we eat a lot!

i also like absinthe. i'm down to the bottom 20% of my last bottle of absinthe, so i had to buy more! i bought a 6-pack from my usual absinthe site, which i'm quite excited about trying. i figure i'll just buy in bulk and kinda save on shipping. in fact i'm quite a lush, but i think i've made that part pretty clear.

had a cannolli from jerry's diner the other night, i did not like it. but i do like coffee with alcohol in it.

awesome bf, r2p goodness, and ex bf

so justin is awesome. i don't know how that man does it, dealing with my airheadedness, neurosis, quick-temperedness (all undiagnosed, and some are due to my calorie restriction right now). if i had to date myself, i'd be like, smack that and go, but i guess that also has to do with my perception of a male version of myself, who would be totally misogynistic, but act sensitive. anyway, what makes justin more awesome, is that when we went to the lobsterfest on saturday night and he won me 2 stuffed animals in that game where you toss ping pong balls into dishes in a little water pool.

friday was our show at the Derby. i think ryan had more than a drink or two before the show, so he was a lot more loose and the set had very good energy! they usually go to pineapple hill after the show, and this time around, i joined them [pics]. oh, if you wanna see, login to myspace, and then click here for pictures from the cd release show.

i went to my optometrist on sunday so i can get referral to lasik place. he says i need to go to opthamologist to see if i have glaucoma because my optic nerves were irregular in some way. so that sucks. but i'm seeing one tomorrow morning, so i am on top of this! anyway, after my appointment on sunday, i called up an ex (who i haven't seen in like 4 yrs but recently we said hi and stuff on AIM) for lunch, since i was right in the area and i was hungry. it was awful. reminded me of everything i hated about him, and the whole time it was just filled with weird silence and astonishment at the fact that i ever liked this guy as more than a friend. the whole thing feels like a really bad first/blind date. ick.
