after work today, i went over to justin's to hang out and watch a movie (we watched aeon flux). naturally, justin fell asleep about halfway into the movie and i watched the rest by myself. i set the alarm on my phone to go off at 3am so i would wake up to go back home at an hour where there's no traffic, but still be able to spend some sleeping-in-the-same-bed time with justin. this worked well last time, so i was hoping i'd get up this time so i won't be hitting traffic while rushing to work tomorrow morning, because i'm extremely lazy in the mornings.
anyway, off to sleep i went. i get waken up at 3am as planned, but i was still groggy from being woken up mid-sleep. i decided against my better judgement that i could just leave in the morning and turned off my alarm and plopped back into bed.
for some strange reason, i woke up again at 4:20 am ON THE DOT. (i'm prone to waking up multiple times when i feel like i should be up, but am not actually up). but yeah, i jerked awake and looked to my left. the numbers 4:20 glowed yellow in the LED alarm clock. good thing his clock's display is large enough that i can see it without my glasses. but, like a lot of people, i give myself a slight smile whenever i change upon the time of 4:20, it's just what i do. (like if i hear the word "fart" on tv, i giggle. that's just what i do.)
so i get dressed and did the typical farewell thing with my half-conscious boyfriend and started driving home. i love driving at this time. it's not 2-ish where there might be drunken people. and it's not early enough where there are a lot of truckers. this is when there are the least cars/trucks/stupidity on the road on any given day. seriously, this time between 3-5am. anyway... (and here comes the point of this whole story)
i like to drive with my fan set on 3 (out of 4) and the air drawing from outside usually. this morning, it was no different, only my heat settings were on heat, cuz it's a chilly morning. well, around the "mulholland dr." exit to past the "getty dr." exit on the 405, i started smelling the sweet scent of maryjane. no kidding. its a great smell to drive home to, i tell you that. but yeah, it was so strange. and when i first smelled it, i thought i was tripping, so i opened my window slightly so i'd get more of the outside air in my car, and the smell was still really strong.
maybe it was the heater that made it smell like that. i dunno. whatever. so yeah, that was my story.
... cats are so annoying in the mornings. my cat was clawing at my door when i started writing this entry. i thought he was hungry, but really, he was just being annoying.
i'm going back to bed now. goodnight.
Jenni Cheung at 04:59 AMis becuase i drink so much. take a look at the charts. and i usually drink at LEAST one or two drinks a night. WITH MIXERS. dammit. and they say that alcohol makes you hungrier too! i gotta find myself a low-calorie alcoholic beverage.
oh yeah. i should drink less too.
Jenni Cheung at 04:42 PMsee that little snippet on the left under the menu with the time and the time/date-sensitive statement(s)? i wrote that from scratch ^_^ i know it's not hard or anything, but i'm still happy about it. i needed to code something, because i have not been coding shit for a week now (just been learning basic flash) and i feel the itch to code.
from my accrued vacation time money, i bought a new pair of flip-flops. it was kinda overdue. i sprung for quality this time around, cuz i wear flipflops all the time. it came out to be $51 for my new pair of flipflops. but they're rainbow sandals. i got them at ripcurl on 3rd street promenade. my last pair of flipflops lasted me 3 years from them. actually, it's not even broken or anything, but i just wanted a cleaner pair. but yeah, they're the most comfortable flipflops ever and they're so basic. i've only worn the "premier leather" ones, but those styles are so classic i can't see myself wearing any other kind. anyway, it's so worth the extra few bucks because they'll last you YEARS upon years. this time i got the double layer arch one, because i've determined that i'm too short in a single layer of sandal foam. if you don't have a pair and you wear flipflops all the time, you HAVE to try a pair of these. i see tons of people wearing these, cuz you can tell by the little rainbow tag on the outside of the sandal straps. they took me only 2 hours to break in and make totally comfortable, and they're... just... just... so wonderful. i can't say enough about it.
Jenni Cheung at 01:06 AMi'm seriously pretty peeved at people who has it engrained into their brain that goodwebsites = heavy flash content. so i got hired as an html/css person, but i'm getting semi-shit from people making me feel inferior because i dunno flash. i find flash super-cumbersome. sure, it's pretty when added in the right places. but if you care about you audience at all, flash should always be kept at a minimal so you don't crash their browser or slow their computer's ram to the pace of a snail with asthma.
many perfectly beautifully crafted and CLEAN sites are done with the minimalist language of css. please appreciate them and stop trying to complicate things with your expectations of flash.
(oh yeah, i HAVE to learn flash now for my job, or i'd have to face further ridicule. great huh)
